Dwaalrem? No, that’s not a real word, not even in Dutch. It’s an anagram of my name. However, in Dutch “dwaal” means “wander” and “rem” is a “break”, so in fact it cóuld mean something. Maybe “Stop feeling lost”, or something like that. But, it doesn’t. At the end it appears to be only a rather unique word on the web. Which is at least handy.
This site was created because every now and than I like to play around with music software Reason* and I had a need to store the results somewhere online. When it’s not online it doesn’t exist, does it… So, on this site you can listen to a number of my creations.
I’m not a musical performer or an ambitious artist, I can’t even play any instrument at all, but with Reason I’m able to create the soundloops and patterns I like to hear. I often mix the loops with spoken text, commercials or statements, picked up accidentally by scanning online radio stations from all over the world. Sound waves, volatile wandering through eternity… and then suddenly stuck into someone’s .mp3. In this case, mine.
* Reason is a digital audio workstation for creating and editing music and audio developed by Swedish software developers Propellerhead Software. It emulates a rack of hardware synthesizers, samplers, signal processors, sequencers, and mixers, all of which can be freely interconnected in an arbitrary manner.
